HOW CAN I HELP?

There are many ways you can help NTBHR achieve its goals of rescuing needy bassets from local pounds and shelters. We have need of various types of resources, including, your time, your talent, your connections through your job, family and friends.
NTBHR is experiencing welcomed growth and expansion in our area. Thanks to an increase in the number of foster homes, we are currently able to save more basset hounds than ever before. This creates more opportunities for giving, and greater need for other services and volunteers in other areas of operations.
Below is a list of immediate needs for services and supplies, as well as other ways you are able to contribute to our mission, of "Giving Basset Hounds a Second Chance".

Donations:

Donations to our rescue help our bassets in many ways. Veterinary costs are our biggest expense. Most of the dogs that we take in are rescued from shelters where they are going to be euthanized due to illness, injury or age. Most shelters do not have the facilities or funds to rehabilitate these dogs. This is one of the main reasons why rescue groups exist and work closely with shelters. While this can be very expensive at times, we believe that these dogs deserve a second chance if the quality of their lives can be improved with medical care.

Donate a car!

If you are interested in donating a car or other vehicle, please contact Charity Motors at 927-CHARITY and let them know that you would like the proceeds go to North Texas Basset Hound Rescue.

Other items that the rescue needs:

New collars and leashes (we would love for every basset to have a new collar and leash when they go to there new home) a 20" adjustable collar fits most

Heartworm preventative (since most of our budget goes toward treating heartworm positive dogs, it is so important to start the bassets that are heartworm negative on preventative as soon as possible) we can use the pills for bassets over 50 lbs and under 50 lbs.

Flea control (many of the bassets that come in are covered in fleas and are in misery - itching and scratching) the topical or the oral would be greatly appreciated

Pet bed or blankets (we would like each rescued basset to have a bed or blanket that they could have at their foster home and take to their new forever home for a sense of security while adjusting

Basset Food (commonly know as dog food) Obviously this might be a little heavy to send, however if you send a gift certificate to PetsCo or Petsmart we'd be glad to do the leg work and get their "favorite" brand :)
PetSmart or Petco Gift Card: We frequently take in dogs that need special food or equipment, like a crate, harness or toys, or chewing aids. It's nice to have the freedom to buy a crate or a harness when needed.
