Blossom is the perfect example of amateur breeding, with a poor attempt to breed what is popularly called a "mini-basset". This is not a breed of dog, but society's attempt to make the basset smaller, more acceptable to folks who don't like a big dog. Unfortuantely, because these people are not scientists, these little dogs, though cute as can be, turn out with some deformities. Sweet little Blossom is no different. Her hind legs are slightly deformed, though they do not seem to bother her, they could become a source of arthritis or other problems later in life. She is full grown at 32 pounds, and has all the other basset features, including the droopy eyes, long velvety ears, soft furry lips, and a very deep basset voice. She's sure to fool anyone with that voice behind a closed door!
